About The Owner ~ Jeanette Villarin
I grew up in Bloomington, MN, attended the University of Minnesota, College of Biological Sciences, and graduated with a B.S. in biology.
Having always wanted to live "with the woods right out my back door," I moved to this 10-acre location in 1997. Before building and opening AnimaLodge Boarding Kennel in 2006, I enjoyed working with animals – both domestic and wildlife – in a variety of settings. My past experience has included working in a boarding kennel, working for bird breeders, doing research in the veterinary medical field, and working at the Wildlife Rehabilitation Center in St. Paul for 14 years as a wildlife vet tech.
Over the years my pets have come in all shapes and sizes; I have owned dogs, cats, horses, llamas, goats, rabbits, parrots and reptiles.
I had volunteered at the Burnett County Humane Society for over 10 years in many capacities, including temperament testing of the shelter dogs, fecal testing for parasites, putting out the quarterly newsletters, and adoptions. I had also been on HSBC's board of directors from 2005-2012.
Right now I couldn't ask for a better job – not only can I walk to work, but I get to play with dogs all day too!
